The Mind Behind
Editor Girl, LLC
Kristen “Editor Girl” Simon is an executive editor, imprint builder, and story developer working at the intersection of comics, manga, and global publishing.
She currently serves as Executive Editor of Nakama Press at Mad Cave Studios, where she is helping shape a manga-inspired line focused on creator-driven storytelling and international voices. She is also the co-host of the Superfan Podcast, where creators talk about the stories and influences that shaped them.
Kristen began her career in comics as an editor at Shadowline, a partner studio of Image Comics, where she worked alongside Jim Valentino and helped develop emerging talent at a time when the independent market was rapidly evolving.
Her career has consistently centered on building systems that support creators and expand IP across formats. She has worked across comics, webtoons, novels, and multimedia storytelling, including:
-
Serving as Editor in Chief at Netmarble F&C, overseeing U.S. development of webtoons, comics, and novels based on global gaming IP
-
Acting as Managing Editor on Summoners War at Com2uS, expanding the franchise into comics, prose, and motion media in partnership with Skybound Entertainment
-
Leading as Group Editor at IDW Publishing, where she focused on graphic novels, collections, and new initiatives
Outside of publishing, Kristen has played a key role in shaping fan and creator spaces. She has directed programming for multiple conventions—including Long Beach Comic-Con and Comic Creator Conference—and previously worked with Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles, developing arts and culture programs for thousands of girls.
Across all of her work, her focus remains the same: identifying creators who are almost there—and helping them get the rest of the way.
